Joe Florio, Board President

U.S. Army, Vietnam Veteran

Joe served as a LRRP '67''68 in Vietnam and spent his career as a Medical Researcher, patenting over 17 different medical devices. Joe saved his father's life - a WWII veteran - with one of the heart devices he patented. Joe served previously on the Heart Institute of the Cascades and has been a volunteer in various capacities with the Ranch since 2015.

Bill Cassell, Treasurer

U.S. Army, Vietnam veteran, Infantry

Bill is a homegrown Oregon boy and Madras Native. He worked and retired out of the newspaper industry serving all over the Pacific-Northwest. Bill was one of several Vietnam veterans who helped make the several million dollar Canby Vietnam Memorial a reality. 

Tom Wright, Secretary

Tom has served as a Vocational Agriculture Teacher in Madras from 1981-1990 until changing careers in 1990 to become a firefighter and EMT for Warms Springs Fire and Safety. During this time he also farmed mint and raised sheep and cattle. Tom retired out of the Bend Fire Department as a Paramedic Firefighter and ended his career as the EMS Chief. Tom brings a diverse background of knowledge in agriculture, first responders, and extensive HR experience. He has served in the past on the Jefferson County Education Service District Board, the Central Oregon Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Team, the Discovery Christian Church Board, and the East Cascades Emergency Medical Services Council.

M.L. Vidas, Board Member

M.L. is a LEED Certified Green Building Architect and spouse of a Vietnam Marine veteran. M.L. has served as Board Chair of the local Bend area Habitat for Humanity and as Board Chair of the Cascadia Green Building Council. M.L. started as a member of the COVR Advisory Council in 2013 and has been a volunteer with the Ranch in various capacities since that time.

Chuck Piersee, Board Member

U.S. Navy, Vietnam

Chuck is a retired Navy Captain whose career spanned 36 years, including service at the Pentagon. He served a combat tour in Vietnam from 1965 to 1968. Throught his career his various commands were comprised of headquarters staff of over 100 people, 10 or more separate supporting commands and a several million-dollar budget. He served two terms on the Secretary of the Navy’s Personal Policy Board. Following retirement from the Navy Chuck served as the Director of Administration of a large center city church in Seattle. He served as the Director of Ministry Development for the North and West areas of the Western Pacific with the Association of Christian Conference and Services. In Bend since 1998, he and his wife served 5 tours on the hospitality committee of the Sunriver Citizens Council. In 2009 Chuck was appointed to the Board of the Central Oregon Military Officers of America Association where he served a two-year term as President. Chuck has been an active veterans' advocate and volunteer in Oregon at the local and state levels.

Ron Ford, Board Member

U.S. Air Force, Vietnam

For the past 40 years, Ron Ford has been leading businesses, technical teams, organizations and individuals in accomplishing significant missions. His experience includes senior management positions with a Fortune 500 company, President and CEO of three high technology small businesses and a distinguished 20-year career in the U.S. Air Force where he was a Command Pilot and attained the rank of Colonel.  Throughout his career Ron has embraced teaching and facilitating organizational and individual learning. He is a certified instructor by the US Air Force, and a certified Facilitator by the Franklin-Covey Leadership Center. He has taught the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People and Principle Centered Leadership to both large and small organizations. After retirement Ron and his wife moved to Angel Fire, New Mexico, where Ron facilitated retreats for seven years with OEF/OIF veterans through the Veterans National Wellness and Healing Center and served as President on the Board at the local animal shelter.
